There has been quite a bit of interest in Tim and Jean's ride out this weekend (4th). If you are planning on attending this event, PLEASE contact Jean before Friday so that she is able to plan logistics.
Her email is [email protected] or you can call her on 07752 972 452. Full details of the day are available if you scroll down the news blog page for the original post on this event, or by clicking on the interactive calendar page. Heading through Auchtermuchty towards Cupar... Take a left up 'Burnside Road' (B936) Follow this unti the road forks (signposted Glassarts), fork left here. Keep going, the road forks and again keep left. Left hand bend, then steep hill, you will see a white fence. The CSHPC Committee had a great meeting last night, it is fair to say that we have LOADS of excellent ideas and events coming up both this year, and in 2013. Next year we will be celebrating 25 years of the club, so it is going to be a big one! We are hoping very much to cater for a wide range of interests, there really should be something for everyone. There are a few tweaks to the website, including the addition of a members for sale section. If you have any items that you wish to sell, drop us a line via the contacts page and we will add them for you. A number of CSHPC members did well at NPS this weekend. Results as follows (hope I've not missed anybody, please shout if I have!). Well done everyone :) Class 4 (Fell/Highland/Dales Novice Ridden) 2nd Miriam McCloy and Pancake of Whitefield 3rd Jill Vasey and Highland Piper of Sunnyneuk 5th Anne Mitchell and Dunedin Duncan Class 9 (Fell/Highland/Dales Open Ridden) 2nd Alice Page and Trowan Monty 6th Jill Vasey and Highland Piper of Sunnyneuk Class 15 (Highland 4 years or over, mare or gelding In hand) 1st Adriene Taylor and Eagle of Moulzie 3rd Jill Vasey and Highland Piper of Sunnyneuk 4th Janet Litister and Fergus Dubh of Mendick Specia mention to our member Lesley McNaughton-Wells and her wee Dales chap 'Leeshill Lord' who were 6th in a large in hand class too. I've run out of highland photographs for this month, so the photograph for this blog post shows 'Del' at NPS last year when he was just a wee scamp! Entries for the Highland Pony Society annual breed show are now open! This show is held at Strathallan Castle at Auchterarder, and is a fabulous day out for both competing and spectating. This year the show is being held on the 14th of July, with the closing date for entries on the 10th of June. CSHPC members did very well at the show last year, pictured is Creag Crannach of Meggernie who won the senior gelding class for Meggernie Stud. The schedule and entry form is available on the HPS website. http://www.highlandponysociety.com/ Tim and Jean Connell (Achnacarry Highland Ponies), are kindly hosting a ride out at Pitmenzie, near Auchtermuchty. There are two rides, one for those who like to keep things a bit more 'sedate'...perhaps those with youngsters, or as Jean put it 'those who like to blether'...and a slightly faster ride for those who like things a bit more exciting. Both rides follow the same route, and offer the chance to hack in some beautiful surroundings. The hack is a mixture of off road riding on tracks, with a small bit of roadwork. Ponies do not need to be shod, as long as they can deal with some stoney tracks. There is no cost associated with this ride, but a minimum donation of £10 to go to the Grass Sickness Fund is requested. Riders are asked to bring a packed lunch, and headcollar for their pony. If you would like to attend this event, please contact Jean via email at [email protected] or 07752 972 452 so that she is able to guage numbers. If you are attending the faster ride, please be tacked up and ready to depart at 10.30am, and for the slower ride 10.45am.The postcode for the venue is KY14 7HT. Three spaces have become available for lessons with the fabulous Hamish Cameron on Saturday. The lessons are taking place indoors (phew!) at Pitkeithly Wells, Bridge of Earn. Cost is £20 for an hours shared flatwork lesson, where you are bound to pick up some pearls of wisdom for the coming season. If you are interested please contact Rachael at [email protected] . First come, first served...dont miss out!
The next meeting of the CSHPC committee will take place on the 23rd of April. We have lots to discuss but if any members have any specific issues or ideas for us, please drop us a line via the contact form on this webpage. You can find this on our 'contact us' page, and this links to our emails. We are looking foward to a very busy 2013, and are very interested to hear exactly what members would like in the way of events. Put it this way, if you dont ask then you might not get! Look forward to hearing from you.....we don't bite! Huge well done to CSHPC member Alice Page and her pony Trowan Monty. They are just back from the NPS dressage championships at Addington EC, Buckinghamshire. Alice and Monty came home with an 8th place in Prelim and a 4th place in Novice, plus best of breed for highlands. Huge well done for flying the flag for the highland breed and CSHPC! Alice and Monty are pictured at the CSHPC one day event last year, where they also did very well. If the improved(?) weather is inspiring you to get out and about with your highland, why not pop along to the NESHPES spring show on the 27th of April at Fountain Equestrian. Pre-entries have now closed, however you can still enter on the day. The schedule for the day is available here... http://www.neshpes.co.uk/new/2013%20Spring%20Show%20Schedule2.pdf |
