All details on Horse Monkey and we have put in a request for good weather. 17th April - Evening dressage at Gleneagles. First dressage for the CSHPC summer dressage league. Tests from Intro to Elementary. Entries on EquoEvents 26th April - Lessons with Sarah Jane Bowers near Gleneagles. Another chance to brush up on your riding before the spring show or the May Gleneagles dressage show.

Affiliated to the Highland Pony Society At Netherton Equestrian Centre On Saturday 11th May Incorporating qualifiers for The Caledonian Showing Championship and Highland Pony Youngstock Championship. Due to restrictions dictated by the venue, ponies may not be left unattended tied to lorries/trailers. Please follow directions from parking attendants as parking is tight! Equine Flu All ponies competing must have an up-to-date flu vaccination. Caledonian Showing Championships This show is a qualifier for the Caledonian Showing Championships, which offers competitors the opportunity to compete at a top-level Championship Final in Scotland. With a draped main arena, amazing rosettes, special prizes, music, judges from the south and atmospheric Evening Performances, this is the show everyone wants to be part of. Held on 18-20 October 2024. Every horse & pony placed 1st and 2nd in all Inhand, Ridden Showing classes (not fun classes). All Champions & Reserves will qualify for the Champion & Reserves Stakes Finals. Qualification will be from placings, no qualification cards will be awarded in the ring, and no qualification can go down the line. Qualification is for the Horse & Pony except for Adult/Young Handler classes, where the Handler qualifies. All qualified horses and ponies will be listed on the Caledonian Showing Show’s website www.caledonianchampionships.webs.com where you will also find a regularly updated list of qualifying shows and a wealth of other information. In Hand Section – Judging to start at 9.00am This Show is a qualifier for the 2024 Highland Pony Society Youngstock Championship. The Champion Youngster from classes 5, 6 & 7 will qualify for the Youngstock Championships to be held on 8th September 2024 at CSHPC Summer Show at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire or on date TBC at Adlington Equestrian Centre, Cheshire. Only pure-bred registered ponies are eligible. Exhibitors are not required to be members of the Highland Pony Society. For full details of this championship please refer to the Highland Pony Society. Class Listings: Class 1. Licensed Stallion or Colt, 3 years old or over Class 2. Gelding 4 years and over Class 3. Mare 4 years old or over, to include broodmare with foal at foot. Class 4. Veteran Stallion, Mare or Gelding 15 years old or over. Class 5. Filly or Gelding, 3 years old Class 6. Colt, Filly or Gelding, 2 years old Class 7. Colt, Filly, Gelding, yearling Class 8. Part Bred Highland Pony, registered with HPS – any age or sex. (not eligible for championship) Class 9. Young Handlers (6yrs – 12yrs) – ponies to be 5yrs or older, mares and geldings only. Approved hard hats must be worn. Class 10. Young handers (13yrs– 16yrs) - ponies to be 5yrs or older, mares and geldings only. Approved hard hats must be worn. Youngstock Championship – 1st & 2nd from classes 5 to 7 Mature-stock Championship - 1st & 2nd from classes 1 to 4 Overall In-Hand Championship – Champion & Reserve Ridden Section – Not Starting before 12. Note - Ponies must be four years old and over in all the ridden sections. Unaffiliated Classes Class 11. Starter/ Returning Show Rider – Rider not to have competed in more than 5 ridden show classes or not to have competed in any ridden show class within the last 3 years. Walk & Trot only in the “go round”. The Judge will be happy to provide any feedback if requested or answer any questions competitors may have. Class 12. Walk and Trot - Open to ponies 4 year and over who have not competed in any ridden showing class previously. Class 13. Riding Club Rider – Show to include a couple of small jumps. Open to any rider. Affiliated Classes Class 14. Nursery Novice ridden. Ponies not to have been shown in any ridden showing class prior to 1st January. Class 15. Novice ridden. Class 16. Open ridden. Ridden Championship – 1st & 2nd classes 14-16 Class 17. Junior Ridden (18yrs and under) – Sash awarded to best junior. Dressage – indoor arena between 9am – 12pm Times should be self-declared with the dressage steward and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Class 18. BD Intro B. Class 19. BD Prelim 1. Class 20. BD Novice 27. Rosette award up 1st- 6th and best junior and highest score of the day. RULES 1. Only Highland Ponies or their progeny on the HPS Full Register or the A, B, or C Appendices can be entered for any competition. Height of ponies must not exceed 14.2hh. (148cms) , excluding entries in the part bred classes. 2. No animal suffering from an infectious disease will be allowed to compete, and such animal must be removed if a steward so directs. 3. Stock must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor. 4. No substitution of entries. 5. Neither the Show Committee nor landowner will be liable for any damage or loss to person, animals or property which exhibitors or public may sustain at the show. 6. Protests, along with £25, (which may be forfeited if the protest is dismissed), must be lodged with the Secretary in writing within 1 hour of the judging of that particular class. Verbal protests will not be considered. 7. Competitors entering more than one class accept the risk that timings may conflict. Classes will not be delayed for competitors in other rings. 8. The Show Committee have the right to combine or split classes if numbers so dictate. 9. The decision of the Show Committee shall be final on all matters regarding the show. 10. The decision of any judge shall be final regarding the judging of their class. 11. No Highland Pony bred by, or ever owned by, the Judge may enter. 12. Behaviour by any Exhibitor deemed unsporting or unreasonable by the Committee may cause all rosettes/prizes/trophies to be forfeited. 13. The Show Committee reserve the right to refuse entries if they deem appropriate. 14. All Colts and Stallions over 2 years old must be shown bitted. All over 4 years old must have an HPS Stallion Licence. 15. All competitors must pay £3.00 Towards First Aid 16. Members rates are only applicable to those who have paid 2024 Membership 17. Ponies must not be left unattended when tied up to vehicles 18. Hats must be to current British Riding Club standard 19. All riders and Junior Handlers must wear a hat to current standards whilst on the showground 20. Entries fees in full must be paid prior to the closing date before an entry will be accepted; anyone cancelling cheques or any other forms of payment after competing may be disqualified from entering any future events. The show secretary will contact any exhibitor who has not paid fully by the closing date to advise. On the day entry fees may be charged for any late payments made. Exhibitors are deemed to be conversant with these rules.
