A huge well done to all of the CSHPC members who have competed at the Royal Highland Show over the past few days. You all looked brilliant, and did the club proud! There were some strong classes, with a number of members achieving excellent results with their ponies. Here is hoping that the weather holds (your intrepid blog author can report that conditions at the show ground are currently hot, sunny, and dry)....how long can this last for?! Have a brilliant show everyone, and don't spend too much in the tradestands! The tickets have arrived for the CSHPC 25th anniversary dinner dance 2014 (Saturday, 5th April). Tickets cost £25/head and will be available to purchase at the RHS this week. Numbers are limited, so make sure you get your tickets early to avoid disappointment. This is sure to be an excellent night of good food, dancing, and company. So get your pals organised and why not bring a table!? If you would like to purchase them at RHS please contact Rachael on 07793 219 006. Yesterday some of the Committee members (and a few guests!) did a dry run of some of the ride out route for August. Pictured are Kenny and Fiadh having a paddle in the Tay to cool off. The route is excellent, with options for both those wanting to have a leisurely blether, and for those wanting to go in a faster group with more trotting and cantering. It includes a hack around the edge(!) of Perth Racecourse, down past the River Tay (optional paddling), and round some of the old parkland infront of Scone Castle. The ride out is on the 11th of August and leaves from Blairhall Farm near Old Scone. Held on the Thursday of the International horse trials, this gives highland pony riders the chance to compete in the beautiful surroundings of Blair Castle. Willie Simpson's Ceilidh band will be providing the evenings entertainment. We will also be holding a raffle in aid of The Equine Grass Sickness fund, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs Tickets cost £25 and will be on sale at the Highland Show. Just a reminder for all of our members who are wishing to compete at the breed show that entries close on the 10th of June. Late entries will not be accepted.
The breed show is an excellent day out, with ridden and in hand showing classes, working hunter, and dressage. If you do not want to enter it is also a fantastic day out where you will see lots of beautiful highland ponies. The show is held in the grounds of Strathallan Castle, Auchterarder. The ride will be starting and finishing at Blairhall Steading. The route has some fantastic scenery, running along between the river and the race course, before stopping by a small beach, then continuing on through the park land infront of Scone Palace. There is very minimal road
work. Afterwards there will be a chance for a chat and some. Any contributions of baking would be most welcome. Members are more than welcome to bring along any friends and family who are non members. Entry forms will be arriving in your email inboxs shortly. Please bring these along on the day. The suggested minimum donation for this ride is £10. All moneys raised will be donated to the Megan Black Memorial Garden Fund, which is to be situated at Blairhall Steading.
